Built for Everyone

Accessibility
Statement

Education should reach everyone. We are committed to making the Vivarium Culebra website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology.

Our Commitment

Conformance Target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These internationally recognized guidelines help make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological needs.

What We've Done

Accessibility Features

  • A "Skip to content" link so keyboard users can bypass the navigation.
  • A clearly visible keyboard focus indicator on links, buttons, and form fields.
  • Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images, and labels on every form field.
  • A semantic page structure with proper headings and landmark regions (navigation, main, footer).
  • Respect for the operating-system "reduce motion" setting, which disables non-essential animation and pauses decorative autoplaying video.
  • Color and contrast chosen so text remains readable against its background.

Honest About Limitations

Ongoing Work

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time task. Some areas of this cinematic site rely on rich video and motion; while we provide reduced-motion alternatives, parts of the experience may still be evolving. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us — your feedback directly shapes our improvements.

Compatibility

Browsers & Assistive Technology

This site is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge) and common assistive technologies such as screen readers and keyboard-only navigation. We test against the latest stable releases where possible.
